Acne problems can affect people socially,
emotionally and psychologically as well as physically. This is a
skin disorder that has effects which are more than skin deep, so an
effective treatment for acne can be a vital concern.
Some of the common physical effects include whiteheads, cysts,
blackheads, nodules, pustules, and papules. It commonly appears on
the face but may also be found on the back, as well as on the arms,
neck and shoulders.
To get rid of acne requires a twofold approach which involves
both internal and external cleansing:
External Cleansing
One of the best things to do is to reduce the amount of oil being
secreted, and this can be accomplished by taking Vitamin A
derivatives (marketed as Accutane). Good skin care is a key concern.
This means keeping the affected areas clean of dirt, grime and oil.
A mild cleanser is preferable to strong soaps or cleansers and
scrubbing is to be avoided. As well, be sure to avoid products which
may trigger an allergic response if you have sensitive skin.
Photosynthesis is yet another treatment. Sunlight has been used
for a short-term aid in the past.
Women should be especially careful about the type of cosmetics
they use. Check the label and look for those that are oil-free and
non-comedogenic.
There are a number of natural remedies for acne that rely on the
use of food. One of those remedies is that of lettuce. Saturating
lettuce in water for about an hours worth of time will result in a
special mixture. This mixture should then be applied to the skin,
acting as a rinse. This approach is a nice and easy way to get rid
of unwanted acne.
Fresh lime juice and milk are another natural remedy for getting
rid of acne that comes highly rated and recommended. With this
natural remedy for acne, boil a half of glass of milk. Once that
milk has cooled, add in about the same amount of lime juice. You can
then use a cloth to apply the mixture onto your acne infected area.
As an important reminder, wait until the boiled milk has cooled to
an ideal level to promote comfort and prevent burns.
For a small area of acne, ripe tomatoes can be used. For this
home remedy, cut a ripe tomato in half and place the inside, wet
portion of the tomato on the pimple or pimples. Leave it on for
about an hours worth of time and then wash off. A similar approach
to this natural remedy and one that still comes highly rated and
recommended involves the use of tomato paste.
As previously stated, those suffering from severe acne put
themselves at risk for developing an infection or scaring. Those who
are known to touch or pick at their pimples are first advised to
stop. That is the best way to keep your skin healthy. With that
being said, Aloe Vera can also provide relief. When applied to the
affected area, Aloe Vera can help to promote healthy healing on the
skin.
Internal Cleansing
The body is constantly exposed to a
variety of toxins. We absorb them through the air, our food and in
what we drink. Over time, these toxins will build-up in our body and
affect the efficient operation of our organs. This accumulation
contributes to unsightly acne outbreaks. So helping to eliminate
these toxins from your bloodstream also helps your body to restore a
clearer skin.
There are a number of natural treatments for acne which can
assist with internal cleansing. Two herbs which are very helpful
are:
1. Neem
Every part of the neem tree is considered
helpful for a variety of ailments. It has features which are
anticarcinogenic, antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory.
These benefit disorders which involve infection, inflammation and
skin conditions, such as acne.
2. Turmeric
This spice has also been found to have
healing properties that are antioxidant, anticarcinogenic,
anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial and is considered to be
beneficial in improving blood acirculation and in purifying the
blood. The digestive system and liver functions are also said to
benefit.
Turmeric may be applied both internally as well as externally. It
is available in powder form. It can simply be sprinked on vegetables
at meal time. Some prefer it as a drink, which is taken by adding a
teaspoon of the spice to a cup of water or milk.

available and the means of applying them is recommended. There are
inexpensive sources readily available.
When following these treatments to control acne, be sure to
adhere strictly to the guidelines prescribed by your doctor for each
one.
